Growing Up

Admittedly, I’m still growing, and hope to never stop learning. For, in this life, I find perfection as a journey, not a destination.

Moving Around

On an Easter Sunday morning, April 19th 1987, I was born to my considerate father, Elwyn A. Fraser Sr., and my encouraging mother, Lily O. Fraser (Grant). 2 years later, my exemplary sister, Olivia, was born. With my father and mother in the military, we bounced from Washington State US for 2 years to Germany for 4 years and finally landed in Texas US where I spent most of my childhood.

Childhood Memories

Among many cherished memories, I fondly recall the mountains of Washington, the snow of Germany, and the many cultures/communities experienced in Texas. Most summers before school, my sister and I would help set up my mother’s Kindergarten classroom. Most holidays, my parents would play beautiful Reggae music, spend days in the kitchen cooking up savory Caribbean cuisine, and connect with family/friends near and far. Most Friday sunsets before church Saturday morning, we’d usher in the Sabbath in song and prayer. Most evenings around the kitchen table, we’d eat dinner together beside a panoramic portrait of the Last Supper.

Formal Education

Over the years, I’ve benefited from an amazing formal education at Mae Stevens Early Learning Academy, Venable Village Elementary School, Palo Alto Middle School, Shoemaker High School, and St. Olaf College. Music, Technology, Psychology, Anthropology, Biology, Math, and Physics continue to be some of my favorite disciplines. Many of my past teachers imbued life insights well beyond the curriculum and have since become life-long friends.

Hard Lessons

Over the years, I’ve also grown through periods of financial hardship and relational distress. Whether it be enduring moments of bullying during childhood, a period of visiting food shelves in between jobs, or working with family professionals to survive a difficult divorce, my empathy and humility has been transformed amidst grief, trauma, and mistakes. I thank God everyday for every new opportunity to live out key lessons learned and pay it forward in community.

A Beautiful Forever

On a Thursday morning, July 30th 2015, my 1st son, Eloy'sha, was born. On a Sunday afternoon, August 2nd 2020, I married my beloved wife, Lynnette Ashley Fraser. On a Monday morning, July 31st 2023, my 2nd son, Elyas, was born to Lynnette & I. As a blended family, we are eternally grateful for how God has brought us through so much in life to reach each other's tender embrace. For however long we have in this life, may our love speak eternal, and our many moments together flow timeless lessons of growth, grace, and connection across community.
